What Does Abundance Mean Spiritually?

What Does Abundance Mean Spiritually

What does abundance mean spiritually? For most people in our culture, it means a lot of money, a nice home, a fancy car and a few holidays a year. Abundance however, has nothing to do with money or physical possessions.

What does abundance mean to you?

To someone who lives in a slum in India, abundance may mean having enough to eat or a 100 dollar bill. To a millionaire, it probably means a billion dollars.

The true meaning of abundance has become so distorted by a lot of the so-called ‘success literature’.

The fact is that abundance has nothing to do with money or physical possessions.

Abundance is inherently a spiritual concept. Unfortunately, a lot of religious teachings have also gotten this wrong. The idea of having “more than you need” is frowned upon by most religious teachings.

These religious concepts have contributed greatly to why so many people battle so hard to reach a place in their lives where they feel like they have enough.

The Spiritual Meaning Of Abundance

Abundance simply means having more than enough of everything you want all the time.

The spiritual meaning of abundance is that your higher self (that what you really are) is intricately connected to the abundant universe which is the Source if everything you may desire.

Abundance means that you do not want for anything in your life.

What first comes to mind when you think of this idea is usually that all your material needs are met in abundance.

That is quite normal.

When you go beyond your physical and material needs you get to truly understand what abundance really is from a more spiritual perspective.

Right now you probably have a list of things you want in your life. You want these things because you believe that it is missing from your life.

The nature of acquiring things and stuff in your life is that they only give birth to wanting more. The wanting becomes a never-ending cycle of striving for things that can not make you feel abundant – ever.

True abundance is a feeling of not even wanting anything. It is the wanting in and of itself that creates a sense of lack.

When you start shifting your life from wanting things and stuff for the sake of wanting things and stuff you start seeing the true nature of abundance. This is when your life takes on a more spiritual approach to abundance.

An abundance consciousness is one where you feel abundant not because you HAVE a lot but because you ARE a lot.

You realize that you are ultimately a spiritual being having a human experience and that on a spiritual level you do not want for anything. Everything is available to you.

You are a divine being and you are intricately connected to the entire universe.

The instance you take your energy and your attention away from all the things that you think are lacking from your life, you start feeling abundance.

You are abundant when your energy and your attention is on what you do have instead of what you don’t have.

The fastest way to bring more wonderful examples of abundance into your personal experience is to take constant notice of the wonderful things that are already there.

– Ester Hicks

Abundance takes on many forms. You can have an abundance of love, joy, friends, family or even simpler things like sunshine, oxygen, freedom, and a very long list of things that you take for granted.

And here’s the punchline that most people miss…

Abundance consciousness is simply focusing your energy and attention on the abundance you already have. As you do this, abundance HAS TO expand in your life.

Most people approach attracting abundance from the standpoint of lack and what’s missing in their life.

If you want to manifest more money or more of anything into your life from the mindset that you do not have enough of it then you will never manifest true abundance.

Wanting Abundance, Having Abundance and Being Abundant

What does abundance mean spiritually if you see yourself as spiritual but still desire money and material posessions?

The real reason why people strive to accumulate what they think abundance is, is only so that they don’t feel like “wanting” anymore.

Its a strange idea when you look at it this way. You want abundance so that you don’t “want” anymore. True abundance is a state where there is no more wanting – of anything.

The irony is that to want something implies lack and limitation. You only want for something that you do not already have.

Wanting for something then creates an energy of lack and limitation.

On a very deep spiritual level, the wanting of anything will only attract the opposite of what you want through the law of attraction.

The wanting of something indirectly focuses on its lack and the fact that it is missing. If your energy and your attention is then focused on wanting it then that is what must come back to you.

This is why the more enlightened law of attraction teachers always emphasize the fact that your focus needs to be on already having what you want.

This is a state of abundance and this is the state of being from which you truly attract what you focus on because you are creating from a state of abundance and not a state of lack.

Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.

– Wayne Dyer

Having true abundance is not about having everything in terms of materiality. It is having a mindset, an understanding and a deep knowing that at the highest level you lack nothing.

Striving for material abundance whether is be money, success, fame or any of those things by its very nature can never bring you true abundance.

The more if it you acquire, the more of it you would want. This is your ego at work. Not your higher self. The ego will never have enough. Your higher self is not concerned with acquiring or accumulating anything.

Your higher self is on its own mission and it is often very contrary to the mission your ego has adopted from the outer world.

Your higher self, that which you really are is abundant. You come from abundance and your higher self knows this.

You striving for a greater sense of abundance is your mind’s way of trying to connect to this spiritual abundance that your higher self basks in.

Do You Really Want What You Think You Want?

The idea of setting goals and having something to strive for most certainly has a place in life. Floating around aimlessly is one sure-fire way to be unhappy and unfulfilled.

When I think about goals and what does abundance mean spiritually then the idea of setting goals still haunts me.

Most of the goals that you have in your life are not your goals at all. They are ideas that has been programmed into you though great advertising and cultural ideals.

Having a nice house, an important job, a fancy car, and having luxury holidays are all ideas that society as a whole aspire to.

If you look at your list of things that you want to manifest in your life, are they truly your list? Or is it just a list of things that you think you should have?

Be brutally honest with yourself!

Take anything on your list and ask yourself “Why do I want this”. As you keep asking yourself this question you will eventually get to what you REALLY want and that may be very different from what you think you want.

As an example: you may want to earn $10,000 per month. Why? So that you can afford the house that you really want.

Why?

Because you want your children to grow in a beautiful home, a safe environment and go to a good school.

You can dig even deeper but wanting to earn $10,000 per month is only a means to an end. The end is what you really want and that is where you want to place your energy and your attention if you want to manifest abundance in your life.

As you shift your focus from superficial goals to the raw emotion behind what you deeply desire to be, have and experience in your life then you can not help but tap into a more authentic spiritual power in your life.

In many ways this is what abundance means spiritually – satisfying the needs of your soul instead of just accumulating ‘things’ that will only satisfy your ego.

There are superficial things that you mind and your ego strive for and then there are things that your soul wants to experience.

You can try and feed your ego but it is a hungry monster and it will never be truly satisfied.

What Does Abundance Mean Spiritually To You?

What does abundance mean to you? You need to swim out of the murky waters of wanting more things and stuff.

That is not abundance.

You need to star digging through your own layers of perception and come to your own realization that all the things that you think you want are just symbols that represent what you really want.

What you really want, represents abundance in your life. When you get to what you really want you will see that you actually already have it in some shape or form.

By placing your energy and attention on what you have in abundance already, the energy of abundance will start to grow and expand.

That is an abundance consciousness.

Reaching this higher state of consciousness leads you to the spiritual realization that you are entitled to everything, you can’t really own any ‘thing’ anyway and that the only real point of it all is to give it away and to share everything you have.

What does abundance mean spiritually at this consciousness? It means you truly have no personal need for anything and you strive for more because it allows you to share more and give more.

Is this a level of consciousness that we should all strive for? Maybe not. There has been very few who lived at this consciousness but having more of that attitude of giving most certainly will make the world a better place.
