What Does It Feel Like When Your Chakras Open?

what does it feel like when your chakras open

What does it feel like when your chakras are open? You feel connected, balanced and a sense of well being on a mental, emotional and spiritual level.

The chakras are energy points in our body that correspond to major organs and nerve bundles. In the Sanskrit language, it means “wheel” or “disk”.

Collectively, you can imagine the seven main chakras to be like gears in a clockwork—when they work well and are not rusty, there is a flow of good movement and energy that serves you well throughout the day.

The function of the chakras in our body is to help maintain our energies that keep our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health balanced.

With the rise of what experts refer to as the New Age of spirituality, more and more people are becoming aware of the chakras and how to facilitate self-care and to strengthen their connection to the world this way.

There are many practices you can do to either open your chakras or to keep them open, but the end goal is to keep them balanced for the best of your wellbeing.

What Does Having Open Chakras Feel Like?

So you’ve done your daily self-care routine to open your chakras, great! But how do you know that they are indeed open?

The answer is simple: you would feel good.

Not just ‘you stretched your back and your joints have cracked’ good, but ‘your mind is clear and you feel like you can take over the world in the way you see fit’ kind of good.

Individually, each of these points corresponds to a specific function and part of our bodies.

In general, when all the energy centers in your body are well and functioning properly, balance is attained in our systems and we feel at peace in all aspects.

It may differ from person to person, but to us, it feels like a bit of euphoria and knowledge that we are present in this world – eyes wide open, back straight, mind sharp, spirit awake, and feet walking on.

Let’s run down each chakra from the root to the crown and specify what it feels like when each of the chakras are open.

1. The Root Chakra

The root chakra is found at the base of our spine, in the area of our tailbone. As stated in its very term, this is our foundation.

If we were plants or trees, our roots are what keeps our feet on the ground and tethered in our current existence. A strong root system is one that no easy amount of disturbance can disrupt or break.

With a strongly established set of roots, no amount of winds or calamities can break us down as we brave through challenges to see the light again.

When our root chakra is open, we feel confident in ourselves and our ability to surpass obstacles by staying grounded on our own feet.

What does it feel like when your chakras open? When your Root Chakra opens you feel a great sense of peace and security.

We also feel grounded, at peace, and present in your body.

As this is the energy point that tethers us to the physical world, it is also connected to material possessions and feelings related to that. When this point is balanced, we feel safe and secure in our environment.

There is an assurance within the self that our needs are met and we are satisfied with our present.

And because this is our base, the beginning of spiritual healing starts at this point.

2. The Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is located in our pelvic area, a few inches below the belly button. This energy point is also known as our “place of the self” as it has to do with pleasure, sexuality, and creativity.

When our sacral chakra is open, we have the energy to indulge in things in life that we enjoy. We learn to enjoy activities that relate to our artistic whims, sex (or sexuality), and our appetite.

A balanced second chakra also gives us an awakening by accepting intimate relationships into our lives that are beneficial to us.

To add to this, when our sacral chakra is well, we feel a sense of abundance in all aspects of our life, we welcome pleasure without guilt, and we permit ourselves to enjoy the finer things in life without overindulging it.

3. The Solar Plexus

The solar plexus chakra is located in the upper abdomen and is often referred to as our “power center” or our “personal sun”. This is where our power and self-confidence sit – the part of ourselves that we could harness to stand assuredly in our light.

It is also sometimes referred to as the ‘warrior chakra’ as it has to do with being able to set strong boundaries and encourages us to be brave.

Apart from this, this energy center is what gives you the courage to defend yourself, especially when faced with situations that rouse your system’s strong reactions. You will be able to feel this chakra at work when the need for defense arises.

When this energy point is open and balanced, we exude an air of confidence, warmth, and stability to those we encounter.

If you’ve ever met someone (or have someone in your life) who, when they enter a room, just feel like a bright ball of sunshine that you feel the urge to bask In their light, it is safe to say that they probably have a balanced solar plexus chakra!

With a healthy third chakra, you feel safe within your own body – enough to be able to express yourself and your spirit freely, without self-doubt.

Your self-esteem is in check, and you know that you deserve the things you desire.

4. The Heart Chakra

Energetically, the heart chakra is the ‘center’ of our bodies as human beings. Coincidentally, it is also the center of our seven main chakras and is what connects our lower chakras (root, sacral, and solar plexus) to the upper chakras (throat, third eye, and crown).

Located in the center of our chest very near our hearts, it is the energy point that allows us to open to ourselves to love of every kind.

Not only towards receiving love but also to giving it to others and most especially ourselves.

You can tell your heart chakra is open and balanced when you can easily feel love and give empathy to yourself and others. With an open fourth chakra, you open yourself up to compassion and pure kindness that makes it easier for you to connect with others in a non-superficial way.

A healthy heart chakra is present when you can be kind to yourself, especially on harder days where you feel the ground crumbling beneath your feet.

What does it feel like when your chakras open? When your heart chakra is open you will pour out love wherever you go.

You will feel the Divine connection you have with every other living being and you will feel a sense of connection and love for everything in creation.

5. The Throat Chakra

The throat chakra, located in (you guessed it) our throats, is what gives voice to what is in our hearts and gives us the power to communicate our purest selves to the rest of the world.

When your fifth chakra is functioning well, you find you can express yourself clearly and truthfully.

Similarly, with an open throat chakra, you also know how to listen. You engage in conversations with your whole being and understand that to be able to express yourself, listening is just as important in a conversation as speaking is.

With a healthy fifth energy point, you also speak your truth with confidence and compassion because you are certain that you are being true to your essence. You give voice to your beliefs, values, and preferences without a doubt.

6. Third Eye Chakra

Located right above our nose bridge, smack dab in the middle of our eyebrows, the third eye chakra is the point in our bodies that makes us [feel] more connected to our intuition, imagination, and ultimately our inner wisdom.

Contrary to the popular mainstream belief, the third eye [chakra] is not solely related to what people refer to as supernatural phenomena where you see ghosts and spirits and whatnot. (Although it could happen if you have an overactive third eye, it’s not always as bad as the movies show you.)

With an open sixth chakra, you trust your instincts and can see the larger picture in all situations.

Similarly, you’ll be equally in tune with the physical and metaphysical worlds that allow you to communicate with your ego as well as your Higher Self.

What does it feel like when your chakras open? When your third eye is open you will feel intuitive hunches. You will be sensitive to other people’s energy and you will be much more conscious of your own energy.

7. The Crown Chakra

Finally, we have our crown chakra which is located at the very top of our heads. This is what ultimately connects us to the universe and our higher selves.

This is the chakra with the highest frequency in our bodies and when it is open, you can access a higher level of consciousness.

It is known as the enlightenment chakra and reflects our spirituality and relation to our life’s meaning and individual purpose.

When the crown chakra is open, it aids in the opening of all the other chakras and helps bring happiness and enlightenment to your life.

You will feel joy, you will feel connected and your intuition will be in full flow.
