There is proof of the law of attraction in The Bible because most of the teachings from the law of attraction was derived from Biblical ideas and phrases.
The early teachings of the law of attraction were deeply rooted in religion and even before it was called ‘the law of attraction’ the relationship between thought and reality had a deeply spiritual connection.
Many Christians struggle with reconciling the law of attraction with their religious beliefs.
The common misconception is that you have to believe in one or the other.
People who are very deeply indoctrinated by old school Christian beliefs will most definitely find it hard to reconcile the ideas of Christianity and the law of attraction.
The law of attraction has become very mainstream and positive thinking and personal empowerment is fast becoming part of our everyday lives and modern way of thinking.
Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not, it is always working. You may not always be consciously aware of it but it is always operating.
The law of gravity is always working whether you are consciously aware of it or not.
If you are looking for a way to reconcile your religious beliefs with the law of attraction then there is ample proof of the law of attraction in the Bible.
The New Thought Movement, The Law Of Attraction And The Bible
If you are looking for proof of the law of attraction in The Bible then you don’t have to look very far. The Bible is jam packed with direct and indirect references to what we have now come to know as the law of attraction.
The law of attraction is an idea that was not only derived from The Bible but the so-called New Thought Movement in the early 1900’s actually was a breakaway group that read The Bible in a different way.
Most of what people believe to be the meaning of what is written in The Bible is in fact just an interpretation by so-called Biblical scholars.
The New Thought Movement understood that most of the teachings around Jesus and The Bible at the time had not changed in more than 1000 years and that it simply did not keep up with the time.
With advances in science, technology and general education people knew more, understood more and we no longer needed a priest to read the Bible for us.
Everyday people could now read and understand.
This led to a new wave of thinking, philosophy and understanding and although the Bible played an important role it was used to help inform and enlighten certain philosophies and ideas.
One of the main ideas that developed was this idea that God is not some big Judge up in the sky who dictates every second of our lives and who judges our every action.
Instead, God is the creator who set in place a perfect system that operates by law.
Within these laws of creation, man (and woman) creates their own lives and their own experience.
Within this framework of thinking, the law of attraction informs and guides much of our life and our life experience.
While the law of attraction is not mentioned by name or directly in the Bible it certainly is informed and derived from the Bible.
If you are a Christian or live by Christian beliefs then looking for proof of the law of attraction in the Bible is important.
If you try and live by contradictory beliefs then you will find yourself torn.
My hope is that the 5 ideas below will help you reconcile your religious beliefs with the law of attraction and help put you at ease.
The law of attraction is not a sin and it is not against God. It is in fact directly from God because it informs and creates your very experience of life.
5 Powerful Ideas of The Law Of Attraction In The Bible
1. The Power of Your Thought
In his powerful little book As a Man Thinketh, James Allen beautifully illustrates the power of thought and how our thinking not only affects our lives and our ‘being’ but how thought creatures or uncreated our lives.
The entire book is based on an idea from Proverbs that our thoughts make up what we are.
As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
– Proverbs 23:7
The power of thought is at the heart of the law of attraction. The law of attraction can be summed up in the same:
What you think about most of the time is attracted to you and leads to what you create in your life.
A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts. As the plant springs from, and could not be without, the seed, so every act of a man springs from the hidden seeds of thought, and could not have appeared without them.
– James Allen
The idea of as you think IN YOUR HEART is also important because it is not the conscious and deliberate thoughts you offer that creates your life.
It is much deeper than that.
What are your dominant thoughts?
What is it that you think about when you are not fully conscious and aware?
These thoughts make up how you feel and the combination of thoughts and feelings dictate and determine how and what you are.
The law of attraction makes it abundantly clear that we do not attract what we want.
We attract what we are.
This Proverbs idea then is proof of the law of attraction in the Bible because what we think in our hearts make up what we are and what we are determines what we attract and manifest in our lives.
2. The Power of Beliefs
Much has been said and written about the power of beliefs. Beliefs are powerful thoughts that are ingrained in our subconscious.
Beliefs become automatic thoughts – these are thoughts that we do not question.
And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.
– Matthew 21:22
When you believe that God will do something for you then it is not God but rather the belief that is the active force.
It is the belief and not the thing believed in. It is the belief and not the prayer that is the active force.
The law of attraction reminds us of this important distinction. It reminds us to closely examine and monitor our beliefs which are nothing more than persistent thoughts.
Because beliefs are such power thoughts then have the power to create, recreate or to change anything we attract or manifest into our lives.
The power of belief is grounded in the power of thought and while the law of attraction places a lot of emphasis on thoughts, it can easily be interchanged with the word belief.
This serves as further proof of the law of attraction in the Bible because the Bible makes it abundantly clear that our beliefs are the foundation of everything we create, have or fall short of in life.
3. The Power of Expectation
Expectation is when you put your beliefs into action. Many people confess and profess their beliefs but they often remain passive ideas and empty words.
What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and he shall have them.
– Mark 11:24
When you have an expectation you move from hope to faith.
Hope is weak.
Hope is riddled with doubt, fear and worry.
Faith is about certainty. It is about courage and is free from fear.
A really important concept in the law of attraction is that you need to live in a state of already having what you wish to attract into your life.
That feeling of already having it is what Mark tales about in the above Bible quote. It is a state of expectation. You no longer hope that it might come.
You know it is on the way. You expect it to come. There is no doubt.
For me this is the most powerful proof of the law of attraction in the Bible. That phrase alone sums up the law of attraction perfectly.
4. The Kingdom Of God Is Within You
Far too many religious teachings still keep people imprisoned by this idea that if they only do what they are told they will ‘inherit’ the kingdom of God in the afterlife.
This is a teaching from the middle ages – one that was designed to keep the church afloat.
The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.
– Luke 17:20-21
The idea that the kingdom of heaven is within you is a really powerful idea to grasp. Everything you could ever want or ever desire is not ‘out there’ somewhere.
It is all within you.
This means that you can attract and manifest anything in your life by creating it within yourself and within your own consciousness.
There is a well within you that overflows with everything you could ever want. Becoming aware of it and developing a consciousness of it means you will stop looking towards outside events and circumstances to ‘get stuff’.
Everything comes from within your own consciousness.
When you create it from within, the law of attraction causes it to materialize and become part of your life and your life experience.
5. Seek and You Shall Find, Ask and It Will Be Given
This is perhaps one of the most quoted Bible verses and the wisdom and truth in these words is unquestionable.
Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
– Matthew 7:7
The problem is that for most of us, our live experiences do not reflect the promise of these words.
You may plead for something, ask incessantly, spend your life looking and searching and knocking on every door yet you still don’t receive.
What gives?
Are these just empty words? Is it symbolic? Or is it fact?
This phrase was one of the main ideas presented in the film The Secret and one of the great teachers from the movies, Abraham (Ester Hicks) wrote a follow up book called Ask and It Is Give.
This book provides some great insight into the idea of this powerful statement and how it really works.
This is not only proof of the law of attraction in the Bible but it sums up the whole process of manifesting.
When you ask God (or the universe or infinite intelligence) you immediately start the creative process. It starts moving towards you but you most probably can’t see or experience this yet.
The problem is that most people ask for something consciously and five minutes later they fall back into their old thoughts and beliefs that offer thoughts that contradict what they asked for.
The idea of asking is not something you do once. You are asking with your every thought.
When you seek, are you seeking for what you REALLY want or are you being blinded what ‘is’. Can you look beyond the evidence of your current reality?
When you knock, can you see the doors opening? Are you taking inspired action?
