What does synchronicity mean spiritually? It means that you are collaborating with fate. You are tuned in and tapped in to your Divine nature and you are being guided and directed by something Bigger than yourself.
When Carl Jung first published his ideas around synchronicity, it raised quite a few eyebrows in the world of science and psychology. As a man of science, these ideas seemed very woo-woo to many.
But, what does synchronicity mean spiritually?
Synchronicity is in many ways a spiritual concept. There is no physical hard evidence to back up Jung’s theory and it can not be explained through any conventional scientific means.
How do you know if you are aligned with the universe?
The very idea that there are no real accidents or accidental events in your life and that everything is somehow meaningfully connected seems absurd to many.
While Jung’s theory of synchronicity refers to “meaningful coincidences” the theory could extend to all events and circumstances we deem coincidences.
It becomes a matter of perception. People who have evolved their consciousness and awareness are more perceptive and have a deeper understanding for everything that extends beyond the physical world.
This is the world of the spiritual. It goes beyond mere physical perceptions of the senses.
You may live in a physical body and operate in a physical world but in reality your life is not lived in the physical plane at all. You are a spiritual being having a human experience and who you really are is that soul that lives inside the body.
From this point of view, your entire human experience is non physical. It is a spiritual journey and once you fully comprehend this truth you can start experiencing the wonder of synchronicity in your life.
Spiritually, synchronicity means that you understand that you are a soul and that are not alone on your life journey. You have divine guidance available to you at all times.
There is a divine organizing intelligence at work and that there is a cause and effect relationship to every single thing in the universe.
Synchronicities serve as a starc and often enlightening reminder of our own spiritual nature and the fact that we are in reality Spiritual Beings having a human experience and not the other way around.
What Is An Example of Synchronisity?
You wake up in the middle of the night, you look at the clock and it is 1:11. You get on the bus and the headline has the numbers 1:11 in big bold letters. At lunch someone asks you for the time and it is 1:11.
This is but one example of synchronisity in action.
For some reason the same numbers keeps popping up in your life. Not only do you become very aware of this but you also have a sense that there is some deeper meaning to this specific sign/symbol.
It is not just restricted to numbers though.
It can be anything. It can be a song (with a specific message or meaning) it can be a certain person, it can be a specific color or a waord or even a symbol like a cross.
What sets it apart from random coincidences is the fact that it keeps coming up in ways that you could not have designed or planned and when it happnes you have that brief moment of spiritual recognition that ‘alerts you to its significance.
What Synchronicity Means Spiritually
The concept of synchronicity has become popular and has been adopted by popular culture to some extent. In particular some synchronicities around numbers like people seeing the number 11 11 everywhere.
While seeing numbers or symbols repeat could be synchronicity, that is not the definition at all. Synchronicity encompasses all meaningful coincidences.
A lot of people who see 11 11 everywhere are in fact using the reticular activating system in the brain and not true synchronicity.
When you raise your consciousness and become more spiritual you will start seeing and experiencing synchronicities of all kinds. In fact, true synchronicities are almost always only meaningful to you because it is your intuition that alerts you to it.
Synchronicity has very deep spiritual meaning and purpose. I love how Dr. Wayne Dyer defined it.
He called it a ‘collaboration with fate’.
Here are the 5 most important spiritual meanings we can draw from the concept and the workings of synchronicity.
1. Life Is A Spiritual Journey Of The Soul
You don’t have a soul, you are a soul. You live in a body and have taken on a physical presence in this time and space reality.
Ultimately your soul is here on its own mission and it very often is in contradiction with the predefined life paths that society and the culture have laid out in front of you.
As we blossom or awaken, we begin to notice there is a force in the world that seems to be operating and leading us into a certain destiny. And it’s very much a kind of detective effort on our own part to figure out what these things mean. The synchronicity is essentially a meaningful coincidence that brings us information at just the right time. While leading us forward, it also feels very inspiring and destined in a way. It feels like we’re on a path of unfolding in our own personal evolution.– James Redfield
You have a divine purpose and your soul is here on its own mission. The synchronicities in your life are always there to nudge you in a certain direction.
Oftentimes these synchronicities take on more extreme measures (by human standards) like traumas or accidents. Yet, it always has your highest ideals in mind.
With the benefit of hindsight, we can all look back at our lives and see how ‘terrible things’ were in fact blessings in disguise in the sense that it shaped our destiny and ultimate purpose.
Synchronicity acts as a guiding light that is there to help steer you towards your soul’s destiny and fulfilling your life purpose.
2. Everything Has Meaning and Purpose
Synchronicity is evidence that everything in the universe has meaning and purpose. One of the great challenges we have is in seeing meaning in purpose in current events and circumstances.
We tend to be blinded by what is right in front of us and the ability to see beyond the obvious tends to allude to us.
When you live a more spiritual life you start ‘seeing’ that everything has meaning and purpose. Most of the time we can only connect the dots when we have more perspective further down the track in life.
Synchronicity teaches us that everything has meaning because ultimately everything is interconnected.
Nothing in this universe exists in isolation and we are just beginning to understand how consciousness, our thoughts and our energy connects to reality.
Don’t dismiss the synchronicity of what is happening right now finding its way to your life at just this moment. There are no coincidences in the universe, only convergences of Will, Intent, and Experience.– Neale Donald Walsch
So, what does synchronicity mean spiritually from the point of view of meaning? Everything that you can easily blow off as meaningless and haphazard coincidence has some meaning.
Just because you can not connect the dots now does not mean it is not connected.
Someone who is more spiritually conscious understands this fact. The very act of looking for the meaning and purpose in so-called random events connects us to universal intelligence.
Seek and you shall find new meaning and understanding with this facet of synchronicity.
3. The Universe Has Your Back
So often we go through life feeling lost, abandoned and without purpose. Synchronicities serve as a potent reminder that we are never alone.
We always have divine guidance available to us at all times and that our intuition really is a 6th sense that is there to guide us every step of the way.
One thing we have learned from the observer effect in quantum physics is that the mere act of placing your attention on something brings it into being.
By placing your attention on your intuitive faculty not only heightens your perception of synchronicities but could in fact being them into being.
Synchronicity is God sending us messages anonymously.– Deepak Chopra
Knowing that you are never truly alone is not just comforting but very empowering. Synchronicity is a way for the universe to communicate with you and show you the way.
The real question is never IF you are being guided but rather if you are NOTICING the guidance that is already there.
4. Everything Is Dictated By Cause And Effect
Our physical universe is dedicated by cause and effect. Most of our scientific theories are built around this most basic premise that there is a cause and effect for everything.
When it comes to the physical world we have no problem believing in the cause-effect reality. When it comes to the meta-physical thought we tend to be very skeptical.
Because we can not always see or pinpoint the cause, we doubt that the effects in our lives even have a cause.
With all metaphysical matters we have a hard time correlating the cause and effect relationships between what we attract into our lives and where it originates from.
A woman admits to a buried dream of acting. At dinner the next night, she sits beside a man who teaches beginning actors. It’s my experience that we’re much more afraid that there might be a God than we are that there might not be. Incidents like those above happen to us, and yet we dismiss them as sheer coincidence.– Julia Cameron
Synchronicity is almost always the direct result of a conscious or subconscious intention that you hold in your mind.
Being more conscious and aware of your thoughts and intentions is the very root of a more spiritual life.
With a greater awareness you will not only be more attentive to synchronicities in your life but you will be able to draw the interconnected meanings much more vividly.
One of the great spiritual lessons that synchronicity teaches us is the idea of surrender. The ego is constantly urging us to take control. To be in charge of every situation and to never give up the reins.
Your higher self on the other hand knows that there is something bigger than yourself at work in your life.
Synchronicity, it is like a collaboration with fate. All of that becomes the norm when the EGO (Edge God Out) is no longer the driving force in your life.– Dr. Wayne Dyer
By surrendering you don’t go into a state of apathy.
When you surrender, you do your part. You work hard. You do your best. You have clear and deliberate intentions.
You then step aside and you ‘let go and let God’. When you relinquish this incessant control over everything, you allow synchronicities into your life and things start to unfold naturally.
I am open to the guidance of synchronicity, and I do not let expectations hinder my path.– Dalai Lama
This explains why life seems like a constant battle for some people – and they are still always struggling and stressed out. They try too hard and they never get ahead because they are going at it alone.
When you surrender, you are in the flow. Things come to you easily and seemingly without much effort. Stress dissipates and makes way for divine guidance.
Are Angel Numbers Synchronicities?
One of the most common and most frequently experienced forms of synchronistic experiences is with so-called Angel Numbers.
The most common and the one that so many people experience is the number 111 or 11 11. So much so that many people refer to these numbers as ‘synchronisity’.
While numbers are just one type of a synchronsitic event, they are really powerful and is an easy way for your Spirit Guides or your Angels to guide you and communicate with you.
Whether you believe in Angels and Guides or not, the fact remains that numbers can be a powerful guide in your life and there has been many great writings about these numbers and what you they might mean in your life spiritually.
What Is Synchronicity Trying To Tell Me?
The metaphysical; the world beyond the physical is where most of your life is lived. The world of your thoughts exist in the spiritual dimension and beyond your mere sensory experience of life there is immense depth and meaning.
The ability to think, understand and attach meaning to things is what makes us human.
Synchronistic experiences are those in the physical dimension that gives us direct access to the spiritual.
I love what Dr. Deepak Chopra said about synchronicity. He called in anonymous messages from God. These are experiences that often ‘jolt’ us out of our everyday life and reminds us of our true nature – our nature as a spiritual being.
When you become more conscious and live a more spiritual life you can start recognizing these gifts from God and and be more connected to your true Self and the universe.
Repeating numbers, words, colors, symbols or even persons have some sort of message for you.
What synchronistioc experiences try and tell is that you are connected or in-tune with your higher purpose and that you are on the right path.
